I’m Candice Hague, founder of Sea Horizons Counselling & Consulting.

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (M.Ed., RCC) with 20 years of experience supporting youth and adult mental health and addiction. I offer online therapy across BC, using an integrative, holistic, and person-centred approach that supports both your mental health and overall wellbeing.

I focus on women’s and girls’ mental health, with expertise in anxiety disorders, burnout, body image concerns, disordered eating and eating disorders, substance use and addiction, and navigating life transitions such as fertility challenges, parenting, perimenopause, and menopause. These experiences often intersect with issues like low self-worth, chronic stress, and relationship challenges—areas where I offer both clinical expertise and compassionate support.

While these are central themes in my practice, I also work with youth and adults across Vancouver Island and British Columbia who are navigating a wide range of personal challenges that may be impacting your wellbeing or holding you back from the life you want to live.

I bring a down-to-earth, practical approach tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we’ll reconnect with your strengths and build greater resilience, insight, and practical tools—moving toward new horizons and the possibilities they hold.

A Grounded, Authentic Approach

Starting therapy can feel daunting, but with the right support, it becomes an opportunity to gain new skills, build resilience, and address the challenges you're facing—all while aligning more closely with your authentic self.

I use an integrative and holistic approach to online counselling, drawing from a variety of therapeutic strategies to best support you on your journey. Together, we’ll blend these approaches—including neuroscience and trauma-informed perspectives—to create a plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals.

This client-centered approach ensures we work in a way that resonates with you, empowering you to create a more meaningful life where you are not just surviving, but truly thriving.

to feel heavy to be meaningful."

Partnering for Change

Counselling is a deeply personal journey — and just like the sea, it can be both powerful and calm. The process may stir up strong emotions, but it also offers space for clarity, insight, and moments of shared humour that bring a sense of buoyancy along the way.

Building a strong therapeutic alliance is essential to the work we do together. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most significant factors contributing to successful outcomes in counselling — often regarded as the cornerstone of effective therapy.

Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the importance of rapport, trust, and collaboration in fostering meaningful change. This connection forms the foundation for success in therapy, enabling us to work together effectively toward the positive changes you want to make in your life — whether you’re here on Vancouver Island or elsewhere in BC.

I want to acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional and unceded territories of many Indigenous Nations across what is now called British Columbia. My work is virtual and reaches people in different parts of the province, and I recognize and respect the many Nations whose lands I may be connecting from and with. I share this acknowledgment as part of my ongoing commitment to respect and reconciliation.
